Holiday Schedule

In observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day, there will be no lane restrictions on Bangerter Highway during the following:

Friday, December 22, at 3 p.m. through Tuesday, December 26, at 12 a.m.

Thursday, December 28, at 3 p.m. through Tuesday, January 2, at 5 a.m.

Limited day and night time construction activities will continue on all four interchanges throughout the holiday weekends.
 

Bangerter Four Interchanges Milestones

9000 South: Traffic will shift to the new ramps and temporary roadway December 20-21.

5400 South: Construction of the new overpass is underway.

7000 South: The interchange at 7000 South is open!


5400 South

Traffic has shifted to its temporary configuration and construction of the new overpass is underway. Interchange construction includes the following activities:

  • Demolition and concrete removal
  • Excavation and removal of underground piping
  • Roadway excavation and drainage pipe installation
  • Pile driving for overpass bridge structure
  • Relocation/installations of utilities

7000 South

The new interchange at 7000 South is open. Ongoing construction includes the following activities:

  • Installation of new lighting and signage on Bangerter Highway
  • Finish work on the pedestrian bridge
  • Excavation/removal of temporary ramp pavement
  • Installation of roadside barrier, curb and gutter
  • Prep. work for new noise walls on the east side of Bangerter Highway

9000 South

December 20-21 crews will begin to shift traffic to the new southbound ramps and future northbound ramp areas. Ongoing construction includes the following activities:

  • Ramp paving
  • Prep work for traffic switch
  • Paint striping of the temporary lanes
  • Installation of southwest noise walls

11400 South

Ongoing construction includes the following activities:

  • Concrete paving on the northeast and southeast ramp areas
  • Installation of drainage pipe along 11400 South
  • Fencing installation along southeast and southwest ramps
  • Prep work for traffic switch

Residents, businesses and motorists should expect the following:

  • Day and night work, five to seven days a week
  • Noise, dust, vibration, and construction lighting
  • Potential travel delays
  • Changing traffic patterns and reduced speeds
  • Lane closures during off-peak hours (for the latest information on traffic conditions, visit www.udottraffic.utah.gov or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android)
  • Trucks entering and exiting the work zone

Safety

Motorists

Drivers should be aware of lane shifts and changing traffic patterns through all four interchange construction zones. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph in the construction zones and is enforced; fines double for speeding through these areas.

Pedestrians

Please use caution when crossing intersections under construction. Be aware that pedestrian routes may change as work progresses. Use alternate routes where possible and adhere to sidewalk and crosswalk closures.
